I met up with two great friends who I rarely see last night and it was important we went somewhere new and different. We voted for Original Patty Men and this was probably the best decision that us, as a collective have ever made.
Just a short walk from Moor Street Station, you will find this place in Shaw's Passage. The interior is authentic and it’s exactly what you’d want and expect from an independent business, it’s cool and relaxed, it’s honest.
We all opted for Big Verns Krispy Ring with O.P.M Spiced Fries. The Krispy ring comprises of bacon, cheese and a beef patty in between a glazed doughnut.
Incredible is an understatement.
It’s rare that I eat food that makes me clench my fists and mutter “so good” and lean forward to the table but this food was able to make me do that.
Big Verns Kripsy Ring deserves its own mixtape - it’s pure fire. The portion of O.P.M Spiced Fries is fair for its price as well.
In fact, the quality and amount of food and drink that you pay for is spot on, It won’t burn a hole in your pocket and you'll leave with a full stomach.
The music being played is vibrant and - I can't stress this enough - at the right volume level. I can still enjoy Notorious B.I.G telling me 'it was all a dream' whilst being able to catch up with friends.
The service was great, there wasn’t a hustle and bustle feel to the place either. You can (and we did) chill and sink a few craft lagers or like me sink a few soft drinks (I recommend Gingerella) and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere.
I was really impressed by the welcoming staff; they look like they really care about their product and it's refreshing to see something genuinely different in Birmingham.
Just like the bond that the three of us share, I can see this place lasting a long time and prospering.
