Overwhelming bass. Wailing guitars. A trap beat that strikes the heart, the mind, the soul.
With a voice that crosses back and forth between Abel Tesfaye and 'Champagne Papi' Drake, Johnny Rain's EP1 is a promising selection of six tracks - one of which he's managed to rope James Blake onto.
Not bad, considering he released four albums(?!) in the last year alone. Hailing from Odd Dream Republic - the roster of which includes other avant-fusion artists like Xodiak and Omar Kraus.
Deep, dark songs of late, drug-fuelled nights extremely reminiscent of House of Balloons indicate that Mr Rain could be big in the future. Keep an ear to the ground.
